I purchased a 12 bolt out of a 72 el camino to use in my 66 chevelle. Before I bought it I asked on TC if it would fit ok. A couple of people that responded said I would need to use 67 springs. I needed new springs and got the 67 ones. The upper mounting arrangement appears to be different. Can I make these work or will I need to buy the 66 springs?
Thanks,
Charlie

The 67 and later springs have a pigtail on top (like on the bottom) that won't work with the 66 frame spring pocket. You need a 66 or earlier spring that is full diameter at the top. Do you still have the original springs out of the 66 Chevelle? I would have used those.

Bruce,
The old springs are the original ones and need replacing. The ones I got were from someone that bought them and didn't use them so I don't have a lot of money in them.
Thanks,

The difference in selecting springs is on the frame side only. All springs are pigtailed on the rear end side. So if you have a 66 frame, you need 66 springs regardless of the rear end you are using. Good luck
