is there any way to tell if a car had disc brake by the vin or any other way to identify a disc brake car if the disc have been removed

The VIN will not tell much about the car's equipment, but if you can find the build sheet you can figure everything. Since a disk brake change is a bolt on deal for the most part, it would be pretty hard to tell. The distribution block is a different length than a combination valve, so the hydraulic line to the right front wheel on a disk brake car would be a bit short to work with the drum brake distribution block. The drum brake car will use single thickness brackets for the front brake hoses rather than the double thickness used on the disk system. These could be changed pretty easily, though. And the rubber pad on the brake pedal would have a round recess in it with "disk brakes" written on a metal insert. The only time I have put drums in place of disks is when I was robbing parts from a car prior to unloading it. The disks went on a keeper car.
