I have one of those fake 12 bolt rears(68 olds 10bolt w/ 12 bolt cover) I'm trying to swap on rear discs from a 1980 firebird. The caliper braskets bolted on fine, but the rotors don't fit over the axle flanges. Has anyone run into this problem before? I'm trying to avoid ripping the axles back out(pressed in bearings and red locktite on the backing plates) to have them machined. It would be easier to get rotors that would fit the existing flanges.
Thanks for any help.

I had a similar situation... but i put 85 camaro rear on my 64 chevelle.... I had to have the center of my axels turned down to fit the rotors.
You can always find someone to turn out the center of your rotor but goodluck in finding a replacment if you breakdown in a pinch...

it is common to have to turn down the o.d. of the axle flange to fit into disc rotors. of course, you should have verified that everything fit before you committed to the red loctite, but it's too late for that. time to tear it apart and head to a machine shop- maybe they can turn it down without taking the bearings off the axles.
