I'm ready to replace the rear contol arm bushings on my 67 Chevelle SS but I have 2 manuals which describe different techniques. One manual says do one side at a time, put jackstands under the frame and jack up the rear differential. This makes sense. The other says to take out the shock and the spring. This does not make sense. I would appreciate any thoughts before I get into trouble!

Get car in the air and support on jackstands, remove shocks. put floorjack under pumpkin and lift the rear enough to remove tension from arms and then do one arm at a time, one side at a time. This will keep the rear from rotating or shifting and make the job alot easier. You may have to play wiht the jack height under the rear to get the arms in and out and to get the bolt holes lined up. I did not remove the springs and I suppose I could have left the shocks connected but removing them loosened up and extended amount of rear end travel.
