My 70 SS was built in Atlanta in January of 70. My brake equalizer valve for my disc is from 69, and the disc / drum valve does not look close enough to what the catalogs are showing. Is it that the car was so close to 69 that they used that years'. I am going to reuse it but was wondering what's up with this.
Thanks,
Roland in NY

Early production = a carry over of some previous years parts (two piece to one piece front rotors and ect.).
Then there was also mid-production run changes as well (stainless trim at the bottom of head lamp extensions and ect.).

You have any pictures of what you have??? By January, there would be no 1969 model year parts on your car. THey might be dated 1969, but would be for the 70.

I have run into the same problems, with my Oct. built Atlanta car. Most of the time I have to back up in the parts catalog to 69. The brake booster, mast. cyl., and I guess the equalizer valve too, (have not had to fool with it) are all 69s. Thomas

Dave, when I look at the equivilant parts in the resto books. My '70 parts are listed for '69. Probably stuff that was not used and left over from '69 and put on the '70 so as to not have to throw them out.........however, that being said, what I saw firsthand, when the assembly line was open in Tarrytown. NY and I would work the shutdowns for retooling, one time there was a dumpster out back filled with the previous years radios with holes punched in the middle, so that they were rendered useless and not reuseable in the next years run.

My Balt. built ( 2nd wk. of march ) 70 SS 454 M-22 El Camino, That was ordered by me has All 70 date coded L.O.F. Glass....... Except the right wing window glass. It is Date coded 1969 P.P.G........... I am guessing that, If it will fit many models and many different years and NO liability is involved, WE AINT gonna throw it out.
That is my thinking.
