While putting my front end back together I forgot to put the old alignment shims back in. Now that everything is back together I'm having trouble moving the cross shaft out enough to put the shims in. After taking the nuts off I can tap the rear of the cross shaft out with a rubber mallet but the front doesn't want to budge. Is this supposed to be this hard to move or did I mess something up? I have been trying it with the tires on the ground, the susension has no weight on it. Thank you very much for any help.

get a pry bar down there and it will move.
