Hey all, Well ive been trying to get my wipers work for awhile now with no luck..Im begining to think i may have the wrong switch for the wipers. The reason i think this is because the plug at the end of the harness has spots for 4 prongs to be inserted, but on the switch there is only three prongs coming out of the back. Were the switches different from 70 and 71 then for my 72? Some times the wipers will work when the lever is in the middle postition of the switch but will turn off when the lever is moved left or right. Do these wipers have two speeds henced the three positions for the lever on the switch..Hers some pictures of what im talking about..Thanks..Tim
Heres the bag of the switch with the three prongs

69-71 use the same switch. The only difference is hidden/non-hidden wipers.
The 72 uses a different switch but with the same two options.

Tim the wiper switch for the 72 Chevelle does have four connectors like you suspected, which is probably why you're having problems.

Hey all, Well ive been trying to get my wipers work for awhile now with no luck..Im begining to think i may have the wrong switch for the wipers.
Correct. The 4th wire (the black wire on the end) is the ground wire for the switch. Wipers/washer system is switched grounded (meaning the switch is on the ground side. The wiper/washer motor always has 12v anytime the key is on, (yellow wires) when the wiper switch is turned on one or more of the wires are grounded to make it work. The ltblue and black are both grounded for low speed the ltblue only for high speed. The dkblue grounds to latch the washer pump for one cycle. Your switch won't work as it doesn't have the ground wire and the lt blue and dk blue are reversed. (see pic below)
