has anyone done this. this is for my 66 SS I would love to put disk up front but this car is killing me on sheet metal, and need to rethink my idieas. I can get the 11" backing plates and other stuff from an mid 60's impala fairly cheap. If you done this before please respond and tell me what you think on this idiea.

I would wait until I had the money and put disk's in front. I don't think there would be that much of a difference from the stock drums to warrant the change. O.k. in the back.

I had 11" drums all around.
Brakes were marginal.
No power brakes, just standard.

I am in the process of putting disks on the front now.

I don't think you can put 11" front drums without alot of fabrication (new spindles)... I don't think Impala spindles will work, but it would be interesting to find out...

To my knowledge, A-bodies did not use the larger 11" drums (except the 65 Z-16). I have heard that the spindles were unique.

I was thinking the same thing about the Z-16s being the only ones that used them, and needing custom spindles to do it...
