Had an item on buy it now auction and this guy does the buy it now. Just listed item last night.
Then he emails me to tell me that he will not be paying me until next Friday when he gets paid.
Frankly I'm not excited at all about waiting that long.
What do I do?
I am considering relisting right now and blocking his user name from bidding.
Prob get me a negative, but it pisses me off when people think they can just do this without asking.
Am I wrong?

I tell him "life's though"

When you bid, it is a legally binding contract and you will pay within the seller's time frame. If not-too bad. Give him negative feedback, block and relist. Or if you had multiple bidders, you might have the "second chance offer". Life's tough, tell him like it is.

You can no longer give a buyer a negative. MAJOR problem with ebay.

My argument is that a buy it now means buy it now, not next Friday.

My auctions state that I reserve the right to relist if the item is not paid for within 10 days. that doesn't mean wait 10 days to pay.

I'd probably suck it up this time around. Maybe change your payment terms so there's no misunderstanding.
I definitely see your point though. "Buy It Now" means Buy It Now. Even an idiot like me would understand that. :D

The only way to prevent this is setting it up for immediate payment. They cannot complete the Buy It Now unless they pay.

I agree you can post Him as a nonpayment bidder because buy it now is what it is, you need to pay now not a week from now. Then realist it also go to eBay and ask for a credit to re-list it because of a non paying bidder. You should not have to eat it. This is the only way to put a strike against Him. Then if He leaves bad feed back it can be rebutted and removed because of non payment. Just my 2 cents worth. Do as what you feel you need to do. Good luck

I understand where your coming from and hate it when it happens to me but if your saying it needs to be paid for within 10 days and he pays on the 10th day he`s actually following your directions. At the very least he should be up front right from the get go and tell you if he needs to wait till next Friday which it sounds like he did. I usually set my stuff to pay within 3 day and I don`t ship till the money is in my bank. I`ve had one guy pay with paypal so I shipped it but for whatever reason his payment got returned for not enough money. He made good on it but since then I won`t ship till it clears paypal and is in my bank account.

well if it's Friday, and he says next Friday, you've already agreed to wait, so just sack up and wait. If you want your money immediately then don't put 10 days in the auction. Duh.

Agree ...

I agree that if you put 10 days payment in an auction then you are thus accepting a 10 day wait time worse case...

If you needed the money right away you need to list immediate payment...

Also...

I dont know what day you actually listed it...I am assuming Friday night...

but its going to run a week, no? Worse case scenerio it could have sold 1 second before the end of the auction...meaning you would have your money right on time anyway...next Friday...

I would be more mad that it sold as fast as it did and perhaps the price should have been higher...or that it even sold at all...

If you did not specify in your listing any special payment terms, then you will probably default to the 30 day period that Paypal uses. If he uses a credit card to pay for his Paypal stuff, the waiting for payday argument seems wrong.

I don't know where you get that from.
Ebay and Paypal gidelines state the buyer and the seller should arrange payment and shipping within 10 days.

My 10 day statement is not so that the buyer can wait 10 days to pay. It is a warning that if not paid within 10 days I reserve the right to relist.

99.9% of my buyer pay with 1-3 days. Then on very rare occasion I get somebody who doesn't have the money and thinks it's their decision to decide whether I can wait for the money till they are ready.
This guy bid because he said he did not want to miss getting the part.

Here's his last email to me. I have yet to respond. With a little reasoning on my part, he felt guilty enough to pay me the day I posted this thread.

"Your payment has been made. In the future when you list an item with a Buy it Now request immediate payment feature. Also do not use a generic payment instructions for every auction. If your description says 10 days that means 10 days to the buyer regardless! I would like my items shipped immediately just like you expected to get paid immediately. NUFF SAID"

I'm seriously thinking about refunding him his money and telling him where to put it.
