having a guy come out and install the front and rear glass next week.
I have new trim also.
I asked him to see if theres some sort of gasket forthe glass, or just sealer??
Heard about this dont know much about it.
Last time i had a windshield done it was just sealant. I dont know if it was correct because I knew the car was coming apart soon and didnt reinstall the trim..
Anyone?
Hes charging $160 sounded fair to me? !!

i just had safelight come out the other day. They used eurathane to set the glass, no gasket or anything. Ive heard people say on here the trim wont look right compared to butyl tape and there will be gaps between the trim and glass. it wasnt in my case at all. It looks great. and gauranteed not to leak for life. Charged me 250 for a new front ppg winshied and installation of the back glass. took em 15 minuits.

Your either roll out a tar rope called "buytl tape" in the channel or use a caulking gun to put a bead of urathane in the window channel and then set the glass on it. The trick is to have the right tickness of buytl or urathane so that when the glass is install, the windshield trim snaps on the clips and leaves no gap between it and the windsheild. The butyl comes in a couple thicknesses to compensate for original "thick" glass or aftermarket "thinner" glass. I haven't used the urathane myself. Some people perfer to put the tape or urathane on the glass and not on the window channel. No differance, just prefrence IMHO.

They used both the tape and the urethane on mine. He guaranteed it not to leak.

Mine better not leak, had them both done today. The trim on the windshield lays flat on the long portions but not in the corners .
The rear it appeared like the one ps side didnt lay quiiiite as flat as the other, dont know if it was the body or the aftermarket glass but its in and seems to appear sealed.
Now to pull the headliner trim and clean up all the goo that ran down.
God I hate paying good money and then having to go back and make it right myslef!!!!!!!!!! Thats what has burned me on this hobby...not the car or even the cost, its doing stuff over 2-3x if you have to have someone do something for you.
