I am having some starting issues with my ZZ502. All was fine untill about a month ago and then the starter started grinding and turning over slow before the cone finally broke off.
Installed new starter and new 1 wire alt and a new battery. I triple checked all connections/wires and grounds. Volt guage reads 11.5 to 12 volts and the car will start 1 and I will drive it around the block (volts at 14). After I shut it down and then try to refire the starter grinds and it wont start again. I hook up the booster and it turns over faster than ever.
I have checked the battery with my snap on battery tester and it shows a full charge. Any clues what this could be? Bad starter? Alternator?

Cables.

One wire alternators are not the best either.

I have been running the same setup for a couple of years and have never had an issue. Battery is in the trunk, I have checked the cables and the cutoff switch at the bumper and all is fine. After leaving the car sit for a few days I go out and it starts right up and runs fine 1 time then 5 minutes later the starter will grind and it won't turn over but the gauge still reads 11.5 to 12 volts.

Ground? The ground cable from the battery in the trunk goes straight to the frame, should I also have one from the block to the frame up front? Never had one before and never and issue untill now.

I charged the battery for a few hours, and removed the groung cable and cleaned the contact area and then reinstalled everything, now my starter just grinds. Ordered a new one and will install this week when my blood pressure goes back down!
