A simple question: What is the best way to drive in an axle bearing (10 inch axle)? I have a bearing/seal driver kit, but the #3 is too small and the #4 is just a bit too big.

Thanks.

I use the old outer piece of the bearing.

Do you have a piece of metal flat stock handy? Anything a quarter inch or thicker should be fine.

One of the bearing drivers should be close enough to work, they rarely fit as they supposed to. A lot of time I flip the driver plate over and use the side that is supossed to go against the tool handle.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I used a combination of your advice. I used the old bearing in combination with a bearing driver that fit nicely in the ID of the OLD bearing. The old bearing was ruined in the process, of course, but it served its purpose.
