I am finaly getting around to selling this block. I just don't know what to ask for it. What is a fair price for a short block? The motor has very few miles on it. I think it is out of a vette

It depends on the date and if it is a 4 or 2 bolt. I have one that is dated march of 69. It is a 2 bolt block and the best offer I got for it was $1000. I decided to hold on to it.

I ran across a 67 427 with a casting # that would fit vettes.....3904351. I had a solid $2000 + offer for it based on one thing......the date. It was a May date and therefore only had the chance to fit very few cars. The next offer was $1000 like Terry's.

What is the casting date? Which crankshaft is in it? 3/8 or 7/16 dimple rods?

Remember the 512 block was used for the 427 and 454. Might be a CE motor.

i just called the guy i got it from. He can not remember if this was bought as a create motor or not. i remember checking the casting numbers on the heads and they are a closed chamber rectangle. from like 68 or 69. i will check the crank and rods, any thing i should be looking for?

If it is not a create motor it sure could be one. :D

Just kidding but it is all about the numbers now. Heres hoping they are good ones.

Yowza. You appear to have yourself an LS6 block for a 1970 Chevelle SS 454 / 450 hp there. Does it have a partial VIN on it? Either on the pad or down by the oil filter? Heads are not correct though.

It would be cool to find the person with the car that needs it.

Look closer at the 30337 as it may be part of the partial VIN if it's on the front pad..
Look's like you have a good one.

The 840 heads are bringing around $1000 to $1200 for a nice set. The LS-6 short block in good condition should bring $2500 to $3500. Maybe more if you find someone that needs one with the dates yours has.

Not sure what that z-28 302 intake is worth, but sounds like you landed some nice stuff! LS6 shortblock is a good find. Reminds me of the L89 3x2 vette motor I found in my father-in-laws garage when I first went to their house, then found the matching corvette outside!

Do you have any pics of the number stampings? Sometimes a good close-up will reveal more numbers than our eyes can see.
Possibly the motor can be reunited with an original car.:)

Looks like you might have the remainders of a Leeds (Kansas City) VIN stamp.
Possibly 10K159799.
