Hi,
I just rebuilt the front end of my 72 chevelle and now that the front sits like it's supposed to, it is pretty noticeable that the rear is sagging pretty low. I need to know what the best springs are to use. for the fronts I used Suspension Techniques 1" lowering springs from Jegs, although I kind of wish I woulda gone with Hotchkis after reading some of the posts on here. The front sits noticeably higher than the rear and I am really going for a raked stance. The front springs havent been driven on yet so they might settle down some but can someone reccomend a rear spring that will make the rear sit kind of high? I really like the look of the rear sitting kind of high. I was thinking about the Moog CC501's? BTW, it is a small block, no A/C, 275/60/15 rear and 255/60/15 front tires. Thanks a lot!

I think the CC501s will put you an inch over stock height. Should look pretty good. However, Chevelles are prone to wheel hop in stock form and raising the rear end can make it worse. Don't over do it. smile.gif

I had a similar problem with my 67 chevelle after rebuilding the front & rear suspension. The front had the proper stance but the rear looked like there was a load of bricks in the trunk. After double checking that I had the right springs I posted the problem here & one of the members suggested calling "Springs N Things" in Pennsylvania. I did & they recommended station wagon springs. I ordered the the springs from them, installed them & the car sat the way it was supposed to. I hope this helps.

Keep in mind- the "FACTORY" look on these cars was to have the rear sitting low. If you look at the frame, it is actually level with the ground, its just the way the back sits over the wheelwells that makes it look like its sagging.

If you look at the old factory brocures posted on our site here: http://www.chevelles.com/years/72/72ss.html
or this one:

You will see that even brand new they sat low in the back.

I replaced the rear springs in my 70 elky thinking they were shot with brand new ones- it sat exactly the same. Took a set of Air Lift Airbag's to give me the 1" lift I wanted. I valved them separately so they helped with handling and Traction too!
