Does anyone know of a really good stiff shock I can put in the front of my 66? I have a tire clearance problem on the passengers side that can be fixed with a smaller diameter tire or a different offset wheel (long Story), But I like the tire combo I have now and would hate to change it. I just have cheapo $11 front shocks in it now.

Kill Your Back :D
You also have Tokico's, which can be on the expensive side and same for Bilstein's.
Have you checked out Monroe's lineup?

You can use a KYB gas adjust. they have a very strong gas charge and can be found for under $50 ea.

Is your clearance problem happening when going straight or when you make a turn. If its when you make a turn, a larger front sway bar will help. I don't think stiffer shocks are the way to go because ride and vehicle dynamics will suffer. In the long run you're better off fixing the problem.

sounds like you need new springs, springs support the car, shocks dampen the spring.
