Was planning on fabbing up some control arms for
my brother's malibu. Was leaning towards tubular
maybe 1.25 diameter tubing with 1/8 wall thickness, any ideas.........?

They are so very affordable, why go to the trouble?

It's fairly easy. I just used "link bar" bushings from Energy Suspension part number 9.9107. You just get some 1.25" ID tube to make the arm and some 1/2"ID / 3/4"OD tube to replace the inner piece which is too short. I think you can figure out the rest. In case you're wondering, the 1.25" ID tube is thick enough that the flange on the bushing has a nice flat surface to ride against.
The bushings are shown here;
