I'm looking at my Air Inlet Valve that I removed from my 72 Chevelle Coupe several years ago and was wondering if I should clean it up and reinstall it. It goes inside the cowl on the passenger side. Is this really necessary to have? What does it actually do? Pro's and Con's of reinstall or leave it out? Any Ideas? or experiences? Thanks, Bob

It blocks off outside airflow when the a/c is on recirc. Without it, outside air is always coming in and the a/c will never get as cold as it should.

Thanks Dave for the reply. So it's necessary to operate the AC properly. I noticed the flap hinge is 2/3 broken and the pin connector ia also broken. So much for cleaning it up. I'll just toss everything except the vacuum pod. It seems to operate OK. Another question, Where does this vacuum line hook up or go to??? Thanks Bob

The vac line goes into the control head on he dash, not sure where. You will need a shop manual with a diagram, it looks like spaghetti back there and each one has a specific purpose. They are all fed by the line that comes off the vac ball on the evap case and goes in thru the firewall, the vac ball is hooked to manifold vacuum.

On an '70 the hose will come in thru the firewall and connect to a white plastic tee that is behind the glove box. The white plastic tee goes down to control the passenger side kick panel vacuum vent diaphragm on A/C cars.
