: Poker Run
Nor Cal Chevelle Oct 18th, 09, 7:12 PM My car club held a poker run today and I won with a full house (8-8-8-J-J). Here is a picture of my wife and me taken at Lake Shasta here in northern CA. She said that I was so lucky that I needed to go directly to a casino.

hpsherlin Oct 18th, 09, 7:52 PM Nice car, nice scenery, and a nice looking couple.
Great hand for a poker run.
We rode in a motorcycle poker run a couple of weeks ago. My SIL had never rode in one before. He bought $10 worth of raffle tickets.
Won 7 prizes. My wife and I didn't win anything.
Hot66ss Oct 18th, 09, 9:34 PM Sounds like you are living the good life my friend
Irvinator Oct 18th, 09, 9:42 PM Nice! Yes I indeed agree, that sounds like the good life to me. I can't wait until I can retire and have more time to enjoy my car, car people, and mother nature to her fullest. Congratulations and nice car!
DougA Oct 18th, 09, 10:25 PM Congrats, nice picture,I was wondering does Lake Shasta ever fill-up? I used to run up and down I -5 quite a bit back in the 70's,80's and 90's,seems like the level is always way down.I haven't been there for a few years, doesn't look much different.
JWA Oct 19th, 09, 12:23 AM Awesome pic. Thanks for sharing. The Shasta area of Cali is one of my favorites.

It fills up once in a while, but they keep letting it out to water golf courses and fill swimming pools down south.
64elkynss Oct 19th, 09, 3:57 AM Shasta actually looks pretty full in that pic, when I went thru on I-5 in Sept. '08, it was much lower than that. 64elkynss

Nor Cal Chevelle Oct 19th, 09, 3:05 PM Thanks for the compliments, guys.
Doug, Shasta Lake fills up every few years. Our rainy season is October - May and the Shasta Lake area gets about 60 inches of rain in a normal year. During the summer months, a lot of the water is shipped to our southern neighbors (hah) and the lake level drops 150 feet or so. We are in the third year of a drought and really need a rainy winter. We had a storm last night and got 2.5 inches of rain in about 2 hours.
webfoot Oct 19th, 09, 4:02 PM Congrats! I have only been in one - drew two kings to start off, and the rest were garbage. I may as well have been drawing baseball cards. It is still a good time though!
What did you win, if you don't mind me asking?
Nor Cal Chevelle Oct 19th, 09, 4:43 PM The prize for my winning hand was a $50 gift certificate to a local restaurant , two bottles of wine, 4 wine glasses, a photo album, a T-shirt and a couple of small items.
webfoot Oct 19th, 09, 5:18 PM Thats a pretty good haul!

Stalkingbear Oct 19th, 09, 7:46 PM Wine? Did someone say wine?
This stretch through Shasta and towns going north is a beautiful stretch. Fun to stop and see what is around. My dad helped run phone lines through the area way back in the 30's.
webfoot Oct 19th, 09, 11:17 PM You want some wine, come up here to Walla Walla and tri cities. You're probably closer to the napa valley from where you are though.
