The '68 SS396 I'm restoring had a rear sway bar thrown in the trunk, but it wasn't part of the original suspension (no holes, etc. in the lower control arms). I'm told that if I'm going to use it, I need to get a shim kit or something for the lower arms (in addition to drilling new holes in it). I don't want to replace the control arms, as they're original to the car. Do you have info on what I have to do to modify them? And where exactly the sway bar should be set on the arms? Thanks-

Are the lower control arms boxed? meaning 4 sides. If not you can't just drill holes and mount the sway bar, it will collapse the conrol arms.

No, they're not boxed. I guess that's why I was wondering how to mount them, without damaging them.

Check out the tech reference section, they have good instructions on how to box the control arms. You can either buy the inserts, or make your own as described in there. Just got done doing mine and it works out pretty well.
