Before you would search the classifieds for a nice clean car for a decent price, maybe do a few things to it, and take it to an auction or list it on E bay.
Now I've seen cars sell at auction for low money and end up on ebay or a classic car lot.
For instince, two '69 Chevelles sold at Mecum last week and are now listed for $10K more than they were bought from Mecum.
When did the auction become the place to pay wholesale for these classics?

I guess it's all relative to what you can buy something for Mike. There is a couple of major auctions in Toronto each year and when the Canadian Dollar was really low compared to its U.S. counterpart (not relevant today) the American dealers would buy up everything here and have them for sale south of the border for much higher prices. They were trying to make a profit on the resale and also a profit on the dollar exchange. Nice trick if it works I guess.

It is also amazing Mike how the pedigree on some these cars changes on the ride to a dealers lot. They are just waiting on the unknowing victim.

I think most of the bidders were classic car dealers. Dan Mershon from Mershon's in Ohio bought quite a few cars.
