I just finished doing a conversion to power steering on my 67 chevelle 283. Everything went together well. But there does not seem to be much clearance between the alternator belt and the front of the power steering pump (old style). The belt is not rubbing, but it is might close, probably within 1/8 of an inch. Is this normal? Thanks in advance.

Yes, the belt does come close to the pump. I thought the same thing but so far, it's not rubbing. Seems to help if you use a belt length that places the pump near the full extent of the adjustment slot.
