Hello,
I have a 700r4 in my 65 Chevelle that I finally got out on the road today for the first time. Ive driven the car around the block a few times but never really got to punch the gas until today. The transmission seems to be slipping and I am wondering if that could be because i dont have the 4-prong connector hooked up yet. The fluid is full...changed filter... and the TV cable seems to be adjusted correctly.....I think! Could the lock-up wires not being hooked up cause the trans to seem like its slipping? HELP!
Thanks, Ryan

Slipping in all the gears or ??
Converter's going to slip ,as they all do to some extent, but doubt it would be more noticeable than that of a 350 or 400 in the lower gears.

You need the lock up for 4th.

Are you sure you've got the TV adjusted right? The plunger in the valve body needs to be fully depressed at WOT. There is more to adjustment than just depressing the slider and moving the throttle when setting up a non stock application for the first time.

The electrical connector is only used for the lock-up torque convertor system, and has nothing to do with shifting on a 700R4. You need to re-check your TV system. At very light throttle, when the transmission makes a 1-2 shift, press the gas to the floor, the trans must perform a 2-1 downshift, if not, your TV is not right, and will burn the transmission up.

The TV Made Easy kit by Bowtie Overdrive would be a good investment, for proper TV cable adjustment. Might seem a bit pricey, but you'll be "on the money". I'm using one. If it's wrong, a bad cable adjustment can doom a 700r4.
