: water in convertible well liner
70topless goldrush Oct 15th, 09, 11:04 PM I gave the vert a good bath the other day, and today i noticed a good ammount of water sitting in the well liner when I looked through the rear window. Should water be setting in there? Should there be a way for it to drain out? There is almost enough water setting to start getting into the rear speakers. I figure tommorrow I will take my wetvac and vacume out the water so it won't start to mold my interior. Any help here would be appreciated.
1badss396 Oct 15th, 09, 11:24 PM The water should go into the rain gutter first and dump out into the inside rear quarter panel and come out a drain hole under your rocker located just in front of your rear wheels.

How would you know Brad?.....Your car's never been wet.........:p
Stephen, for the amount of water you described it sounds like the rain gutter is missing?
You should be able to see a piece of black plastic about 2-1/2"" wide by 2" tall that follows the opening for the top when you look behind the well liner.
70topless goldrush Oct 16th, 09, 9:21 AM Thank you all for your response. Should I be able to see the rain gutter from in the trunk? If the gutter is missing how would I replace it? Is it available from any restoration vendor?
Daytona Jeff Oct 16th, 09, 9:29 AM Stephen, Yes you can see it from inside the trunk, it is reproduced and installs with screws.

70topless goldrush Oct 16th, 09, 10:29 AM Well, rain gutter is in place. I guess I will have to get someone to pour water over back of top while I sit inside to see where it is getting in at. Luckly the car never sees rain so it only gets wet whenever it gets a bath.
Pate Oct 16th, 09, 9:26 PM I have the same problem. Mine always lets water in on the passenger side.

Thats where it appears to be getting in as I could see water marks running down the well liner.
jonh1373 Oct 16th, 09, 9:47 PM When I wash mine, I get some in the well liner, I just wipe it out right away and no problem.
Bob Tiley Nov 3rd, 09, 11:59 PM Sometimes the gutter has debris in it and it overflows like a clogged rain gutter on your house or it may have a small crack in it.
70SS454 Nov 7th, 09, 11:18 AM $195 bucks for a piece of plastic sounds like a rip-off. Is there another source???
