Hi all,
Picked up a used set of factory front bumper guards for my 71' Chevelle.
Would like to know the spacing dimensions (ie where to drill the holes)

Also, when I hold them up to the bumper, they sit very slightly pointing towards each other (towards the license plate) is this the way they're supposed to sit?

Greg, here's a shot of the front guards on my 71. They do appear to be pointing "in" a bit. I believe the measurements are in the factory assembly manual.

Good info to know .I have bumper guards in my future.

Front 8" LT, 8" RT
Rear 11" LT, 11" RT

I don't know if that's an original factory color or not, but I don't see many Chevelles in that color at all. What is it called? I'm really diggin the black vinyl top too. :thumbsup:

I just put a set on my '71 last week. Rusty is correct, front 8" from center and rear 11" from center each side. The only problem I had was the top holes for the front because the captured nut on the guard is at a 45 degree angle so the hole had to be elongated slightly to line up. Use plenty of tape on the bumper before drilling and drill a pilot hole first. Good luck. I LOVE how mine look.

I put a set on my 70 last year,they were like the finishing touch to my car.:)

Here's an installation sheet that came with a set of `70 Chevelle bumper guards. I suspect the mounting would be identical as the bumpers are shaped the same in that area.
