Mark, This GM number is out of a date printed 1966 chilton flat rate and parts manual, sending unit #6400759, thats for SS it does not indicate lights or gauge. There is another number listed for 1962-1966 #6400092. I'm sure these numbers have been superseded but they may help. I found online, #6400759 listed as 68-71, but it can't be because my old chilton is print dated from 1966. I'll bet the warning light sending unit fits more than one application and also fits differn't years.

If a 66 is like a 67....Harness wise that sending unit won't work as it is for a gauge car. The correct sending unit for an idiot light car will have a round post terminal and not a mushroom post and are not being reproduced currently. They were making a spade type with an adapter that will work as far as function.

That's correct....pin-style connection. Anybody have a picture or part#?

Thanks!

Bill,
You seem to have it down regarding L34 and L35 sending units. Could you share some expertise on this unit in the picture.

In the link to the feebay auction, this was one of the questions:

Q: Does it have MADE IN THE USA stamped into it and if so is it up-side down or right side up when installed? Bill
A: MAde in USA is right side up.

Is that a way to tell what it is?

I have one that I thought was correct for a 67 L35 without gauges that has the AC MADE IN USA 12V stamp upsidedown. It looks totally different from the picture you posted.
Is it what I thought it was?

Jim.....I wish I was more knowledgeable about them.....Mine was actually missing from my engine and had the replacement unit requiring the spade to post adapter. I called every number I could find and no one seemed to know much about them. It wasn't me asking questions in that eBay ad.... :noway:

The photo you posted may actually be more correct than the one I posted. I was just happy to have something that resembled the original and would function. Neither have been tested as I had my replacement harness changed to the spade style. I personally haven't had the opportunity to even run the numbers.....I assumed it would be a service replacement type of deal.....not necessarily correct but should work?....

Sorry if I muddied the waters.

I'm pretty sure I have a NOS one of those somewhere in a box....someday I'll be putting the original cluster set up back in.
