View Full Version : Bleeding Problem

I have replaced the intire brake system on my 68 chevell maibu. From booster to cylinder to new stainless line to 4 wheel disk brakes.
The only problem is I cant bleed the system.
With all the bleeders closed the peddle never pumps up to the top. If I just pump the peddle 20 times then hold it while a bleeder is loosened-nothing happens. I have bench bled the master cylinder(which is new).
This is the last step in a process that has kept me from driving my pride and joy around for quite some time and any and all suggestion would be greatly appriciated.

Thank You

I would suggest pressure bleeding the system or take it somewhere that has a a pressure bleeder. I have a homemade one (flat steel plate with a piece of rubber and a air line connection that I C-Clamp to the top of the master cylinder) that I hook up to 10-15 psi out of my compressor, you open the bleeder and let the fluid run out.

Thanks Bob,

I just finished making a bleeding tool like you described and will try it out this weekend. Again thanks for the response.

The pressure bleeder is good but if you can't get one, try cracking all the bleeders and let gravity take over for awhile. Once you get the fluid flowing, you should be able to bleed in the normal manner.
