: White Interior 72 SS
shane918 Oct 14th, 09, 12:23 PM Hi Guys.
It's getting to the point where I have to start thinking about the interior of my frame off resto 72 SS clone. My question is, on white interior, the A post pillers would be trim black and the headliner also black, correct?
I am also putting a four spoke sport steering wheel on it. The center horn cap correct for that year would be a "Bowtie" and not the "SS" cap? or does it really matter? To see picks go to http://www.72malibu.com (http://www.72malibu.com/)
Thanks
Al

Sams454SS Oct 14th, 09, 1:03 PM Agreed, what LS7 said. My stock 72 SS had a white interior with black A post's and black headliner, rear sail panels were black as well.
Don't remember about the center cap on the steering wheel...have to see if I have an old picture around.

shane918 Oct 14th, 09, 1:47 PM Thanks guys, nice cars Jeff. I love that white interior!
I read in one of my books that the SS center cap would be incorrect for that year. However, I have seen them on some "SS" cars and it does look sharp. My car insn't exactly all origional anyway. My plan is to have it custom outside and origional inside. I will probably go with the SS cap.

Jeffry72 Oct 15th, 09, 7:53 AM The first Chevelle I built I went with the white interior, but I painted the a-pillars white and went with a white headliner. I don't know if you could originally order them that way, but wow, what difference it made. I not only got more compliments about the interior, I actually know two people who changed there headliners to white. Just opens it up and makes it feel bigger, brighter, and more finished, IMO.

:noway: Not to my knowledge.

shane918 Oct 15th, 09, 10:50 PM I got the car with white pillers and a white headliner but that wasn't how the car was built. Since I gutted the car all options are open. However,
I like the look of having some contrast with the black pillers and headliner, make those white seats stand out more. ;)
JChilders Oct 15th, 09, 11:02 PM I have black pillars and a white headliner. I like the look. I think white pillars would be too much.
1972convss454 Oct 16th, 09, 10:02 AM The horn button should be the Bowtie not the SS. The reason most people use the SS is because it is available and the Bowtie is not. You would have to find one on ebay or at a swap meet.
BTW: I like your color combo. White inside is the best!
