I'm hoping you guys can help me out here. I'm fairly "green" when it comes to engines/mechanics.
I'm going through my grandfathers old barn and it's just filled with old auto & heavy equipment parts. He ran a repair shop out of it decades ago but since he died in 1995 the stuff has just been sitting there. Anyway, I've taken some pics of a few things and hope to identify what they are and if they have any reasonable value.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance :)

Flathead Ford V8 and diesel tractor head.
Both should be checked over real well for cracks. May just be junk iron there.........
Don't know what the price is on scrap metal these days, but you can get a few dollars that way too.

Take this stuff to your local machine shop and have them ID and magnaflux or maybe find a nice machinist who will come to you?

I would say theya re both scrap> No one wants a diesel head, and the block has no main caps.

The head is defintely worth good money if not cracked. There's a good market for them. There are companies that all they do is sell and buy good rebuildable cores. For example check out AA Midwest Cores in Las Vegas.
The block could be worth some coin too if not cracked. Some cracks are ok, depends on where and how big.
Main caps missing is usually indicative of a junk block. I know that in the machine shop business we will remove the main caps and make sure they stay seperated from the block if the block is bad. It's also common to punch a hole in the side of the block with a hammer if it is known to be bad (for whatever reason) so that when the next guy finds it he doesn't lug it back down to the machine shop and pay to have it magnafluxed again.

If the block is good, other main caps from another block can be fit to this block. Don't assume the block is junk just because it doesn't have the main caps with it. They may be in a box somewhere.

Take them to a machine shop and get them checked.
They may be a member of AERA (American Automotive Rebuilders Association)and have the cylinder head book to ID that head by the casting number. The block can be looked up the same way.
If not let me know. I have the book and I can look it up.
