Does anyone have any info on heads with a casting number of 882? I am looking for some heads and a buddy has a set of these. Thanks for any info!

Light weight, smog head, prone to cracking around the exaust seats (or nearly in two).
I find about 50% busted on return core motors. However if they are not cracked by now you may get some more miles from them.appox. 9.5 to 1 cr with flatop pistons.
P.S. I use them for expermenting.

Thanks for the info Harley. I'm not sure if I will get'em (unless they are 2.02 1.60). But they might make a good backup.

Warning! If you have a chance to get a good set of chev heads at a reasonable price, get them! as they are getting harder and harder to find.

These heads do not flow well, and the intake ports were degraded. Stick your pinky finger in the intake ports (from the intake manifold side), and there is a hollow area underneath the rocker stud.

There is a lot of material missing, for emission control purposes. Two heat risers, and cracked exhaust seats.

Avoid these heads and the 624s.

Ok, that’s all I need to know. I will just throw them back into a dark corner. I do have another question though. The heads I have on my 400 are weird. I can’t remember the #'s, but I think it something like 992, or 997 or something similar to that. Someone said they were 76cc smog heads that weren’t that good. But them someone else noticed they had double triangles on them and said they weren’t that bad. I guess I will stick with them for a while.

Likley 993s, good enough for the street,Respond well to a little pocket porting and port matching.

Again thanks for all the information. I would just like to say to you and everyone else on this board that the entire Chevelle web page and the Chevelle board is great. Great people, great information where anyone can ask a question or look something up.
