: rear disc conversion

I've been to other sites, but this has got to be the most active (and outspoken) bunch on the internet! I've read most of the "disc" postings on this site and you definitly got it together when it comes to this subject.

Anyway, here's my problem: I've got a '56 Chevy Apache 3200 truck that needs rear disc's. I've already swaped out to 6-lug disc's on the front, but I can't seem to get a 6-lug conversion kit for the rear. The direction I get lead towards is a swap of the '56 rearend to a 60's-70's 10 or 12 bolt rearend. I've got 6-lug wheels, a perfectly good 3.90 rearend, and it already fits...so I say, "why swap it out?" So, I'm determined to convert to disc, AND not trash my '56 rearend.

Can someone get me lined out on an economical means to do this conversion? smile.gif

Thanks alot for the feedback,

I would suggest going to a junkyard and getting a rear disc setup off a 99 and newer chevrolet full size truck. They come six lug 2 or 4wd. The use the parking break shoe inside the rotor. I think this will be your best bet. You can get everything but the brackets that bolt to the rear-end housing at napa.

Howdy Neighbor! Here's a set like stroked66 mentioned: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2463937988

Sorry, but I don't know how they will bolt up.
My daily driver is 00 silverado if you need any measurements.
Good Luck!

dont get hung up with the parking brake issue. put what ever caliper and rotor on the back that works for you and just keep in mind that i have this parking brake solution that you will not find anywhere else.
