I've got 330RWHP/TQ in a 3800lb car. 9" with 4.33 richmond gears.
After racing one weekend I noticed the car would POP once around a tight corner like backing out of the driveway. Only once in a while. Thought it was suspension, couldn't find anything.
Went to the track this last friday, and after a run, it does 4-5 pops around tight corners now sometimes left sometimes right.
No sounds going straight.
What happened to my differential with 6 drag passes and about 1000miles?!

I don't have an answer why they do that, but mine does the popping thing too. It sounds real bad, but keeps on working. It sounds like something must be snapping.

Are you guys using synthetic gear oil??? If yes, drain it and use Sta Lube 85W90 GL4 (NAPA sells it). Eaton, who owns Detriot states specifically not to use synthetic in the TruTrac.

I ran 80w90 old school gear oil first. Pulled it out when I inspected after last year, and put in heavier grade dino gear oil this time per a rear end shop that my shop deals with. Was fine with the single pop once in a while until after the race track popping alot.

I have done more than 10 rear ends with the tru-tracs and have never had anyone mention any popping, myself included. I have always used royal purple 85w90 or mobil1 85w90 (both of which are synthetics). One of the rears is in my buddies drag camaro running slicks (runs high 9's) and the one in mine, eventhough I don't track mine, has seen over 15,000 hard miles.
I love the tru-tracs, they are the most reliable limited slip carriers I've found. No clutches to set-up or burn up and I have NEVER had any complaints about them.

Wish I could say the same. It's really embarassing to drive like this!
