I got a radiator in the car today so I could actually run it for a while. I slid the yoke in the transmission ,drive shaft isn't it, then I topped off the fluid level. While running the car when I move the shifter the transmission is not going into gear. The yoke doesn't turn, and the RPM didn't drop from there being a load on it.
Any ideas what could cause the transmission to not be engaging? Only thing I could think of is for whatever reason the convertor is not turning the transmission. But I have no idea how that could be. Or is there supposed to be something between the convertor and the flex plate?
When I was under the car I could spin the convertor freely, I'm not sure if that is supposed to happen. I really am clueless when it comes to automatics.
All I know is how to drive them.
