My 69 Chevelle is silver with black racing stripes and black interior. I want to put some new rims on my car. I like the welds, etc...but want something a little different. I kind of like the "overhaulin" look. I was thinking of putting the above mentioned wheels on. 18x10 for the back and 17X8's or 9's on the front. I was going to put the ones that are painted black with a polished lip. My car is not lowered but sits reasonably low.

Two questions:
Performance wise. Are these wheels any heavier than say a set of weld 5 stars? enough to really make a performance difference?

What would the backspacing be for these wheels on a 69 chevelle? It seems the consesus is 5.5 so it fits under the wheel wells. What is the millimeter part? I was going to put a set of DR's on them. Probably some 295' or 305's.

For the front I am not sure what backspacing. I would want it near the fender lip but not sticking out or too far inside the wells.

Thanks for the help

I have a set of 18x10 TTII's w/6" bs and 295's and they fit well on my Chevelles and they are currently on my Monte and fit and look great! I have aset of 17x8 w/4" bs and 255's on the front and they fit very good as well. I was going to buy 17x9.5" for the front and 275-40's but I found these wheels used and in great condition for half the price of new and they look and fit great!

Thanks for the reply. Does 6 inches of backspacing bring it closer to the frame rail then 5.75? I have a lot of room to move towards my frame rail but not too much towards the outer fender lip. Do you have chrome, black or anthrice. I am stuck between the anthrice and black. With my silver car and black stripes I think the black ones would probably look the best.

Not sure they would be as light as welds but ifyou gotta look at it every day and like it then it weighs what it does...

TT wheels look great on these cars but everyone has them nowadays.

Yes,more backspacing will move the wheel & tire inboard.

If you measure from the mating surface of the hub you get "about" 1" more room on the inside than you do on the outside measurement on these cars. So if you want to get the biggest wheel/tire combo under a car, you will need to center the wheel as much as you possibly can. Backspacing on a wheel is measured from where the wheel contacts the hub to the very back edge/lip of the wheel. A 10" wheel actually measures about 11" outside lip to outside lip. To center this wheel in a wheelwell that has 1 extra inch to the inside, the wheel needs to have an inch more wheel to the inside than it does to the outside to center it in the wheelwell. So, if the overall measurement of the wheel is 11" lip to lip, then you should have 6" to the inside which leaves 5" to the outside. This will leave your wheel centered and allow for the largest possible tire that will fit without rubbing/contact issues. Hope this does not confuse the issue.

Not around here! I haven't seen but a single car with tt2's. Everyone has the draglites or pro stars. I have seen one 65 chevelle that goes to the track but doesn't race. His car is lowered with the TT's in anthracite. The color of his car is pearl white. I think the car is the nicest car out there. I would think these wheels are heavier but I am thinking that the weight difference surely wouldn't be worth a tenth in 1/8 mile. If someone disagrees then I would like to know because then I may have to get the draglites.
