My 71 SS Chevelle 402, 400t/a is numbers matching but the transmission is missing the side metal tag. The build sheet identifies that it is code "CD".
On Ebay a seller is selling what they say are original transmission tags but their listing identifies 402 with 400 t/a to be "CF".
Obviously my documentation is correct but are they selling an incorrect items?

I think CF is a 70 code, so they are just trying to pass it off as 70-72.... Another case of incorrect seller info.... be glad you have your buiuld sheet to go off of....

Dave Birdwell is right, CF is a 1970 code. Don't know if it carried over to following years.

Someone either sent me this list or sent me a link to the data but for the life of me I can't remember who. It's a list of codes and engines with horsepower ratings but, sadly, no years listed.
If anyone can find another source for this, I'd like to fix/update the page.

Thank you all for the info. Wanted to make sure my research and understanding was correct especially at $75+ dollars for an incorrect plate.
