Has anyone had trouble mounting QA1's in the rear?? Mine seems to not have the same diameter lower eyelet as the shock mount stud is. Mine is smaller. Anyone know what the deal is???

When I put a set on my 96 Impala I changed the lower studs with a replacement set from the local auto parts store.
Available in the "Help"(red blister packs) packaging ususally found at Higher end Auto part stores like Autozone or Checker. Or install with Grade 8 bolts

Same exact thing occured when I attempted to install my rear QA-1's. My solution was to make my own (http://www.71protouringchevelle.com/022203-07.JPG)stud out of a grade 8 bolt and several nuts. The car hasn't been on the road yet (not till next spring) so I don't have any input on how well it stays connected. I suppose your other alternative would be having the stock shock stud machined down to fit the eyelet size of the QA-1 shocks. Good Luck!

I had the same problem also, just press the steel sleeve out from the shock rubber bushing and it fit right over the original bolt. You might need an extra pair of hands for this procedure but it works with little effort. Place a socket the same diameter as the sleeve against one jaw of a vise. Hold the steel sleeve of the shock against the socket, then on the other side of the bushing place a larger socket where the sleeve will be pushed out. Tighten the vise until the sleeve is completely pressed out. The rubber bushing left in the shock will fit over the bolt in the axle, you may have to lightly lubricate the bolt to get the shock to slide on all the way but it works.

Sams... I had the same idea, so took the shocks to work and did exactly as you also told me. Pushed in a new stud as it pushed out the sleeve. All's well again here till I mount the rims n tires later this week... All that BMR stuff sure looks kewl in there, too bad you'll only see the swaybar when the car's back on 4 feet. :D
