It all started in 06 when I bought the maroon 69. It had a 350 and 350th tranny. I drove it until I found the 66. I worked on the 66 for 6 months and sold the 69 to help finish the 66. It had a 396 with 400th and 12 bolt 373 rear.I reluctantly sold the 66 this past spring and was sick and needed a car to at least drive. Well, I ended up with the 72 and just wasnt happy with it. Then I found the black 69. Sold the 72 to get the 69. Hopefully I will have it complete in the spring and can enjoy driving it.
A few years ago I never thought I would be able to enjoy this hobby but by doing alot of my own work on these cars I have slowly gotten more than I bargained for. I had always wanted a 66 and that was actually my dream car but as some of you know I was forced to sell it and I am now hoping the 69 will takes it's place and be the car I will keep and drive for years to come. It is actually the most solid and best running of all the ones I've had.
Now I just wanted to thank all of the Team Chevelle members who have lent advice through the years. Without the knowledge gained here it would not have been possible for me to complete alot of these projects. Thanks again!

The 69 is a damn nice year Chevelle. My car of choice is a 70 but a 69 might satisfy my chevelle urge. Tough call when your heart is set on something else. Good luck.

Nice cars. Very nice actually. I am not so crazy about the taillights on the '69s. I think they are pretty ugly....not the car, just the tails.

Question...that blue one, it is a 72 I am gathering. I don't know if you still have it, I thought I read that you sold it. Either way, what is done to the rear to give it that rake? Did/do you have problems with wheelhop with it sitting like that? What size rubber is on the rear wheels in that pic?

Thanks.

Yes, you're right I did sell it. If evryone read the post I sold them all but the black 69. The 72 is the only one I bought that was done when I got it. As I said I bought it just to drive until I found another car that I wanted to fix up.
Dont recall the tire size but yes , it did suffer from some wheelhop, not too bad though. I do know that it was on regular shocks and not air shocks.

Wow, loving the black 69' SS. I had a black 1969 SS 396 4 speed car 14 years ago. I struck a deal to buy it back over 3 years ago. (Or so I thought) Then the seller fell off the face of the earth. I miss that car so badly. Enjoy it, 66' & 69' are my two most favorite years.

Yes, a 69 is the only car that could come close to replacing my 66.

No, I took it easy. As you can see by the time of this post, getting up at 4 AM for work doesnt allow much drunk time during the week. I am going to my camp this weekend though. Perhaps I can make up for it. ;)

Kevin: Love your present aquisition. How can you go wrong with a black 69? What color interior? Auto or 4 speed? Any thoughts of putting the SS side stripe on it?
On another note you mentioned going to your camp. You got your eye on a particular buck? I am getting the itch but don't usually go out till 3rd/4th week in October. Too many leaves still on the trees.

I actually bought another 69' to replace my SS car, it was a 350/300HP 4 speed car. It was intact, and very original - but a hair rough. When I came across my blue 72'... I couldn't pass. So the 69' was sold to a family friend, who hasn't done a thing with it in over 3 years.

Ok, Im gonna answer a few of these in one post. As for the car it has a freshly rebuilt 1970 396 engine. Mild cam with an Edelbrock carb and intake. Stock manifolds. It is an auto and right now it has a 350th. I just bought a 400 for it though. It is a 12 bolt rear with 308 gears. I missed out on a Muncie 4 speed right afetr I bought the car. The guy I bought this car from had a 70 for sale that had a 4 speed. One fellow who wanted to buy it wanted an auto trans. He said he would pay an extra $1000. The owner told him to buy it and bring it to me and I would switch them out for him. But he ended up not buying the car and it went to another guy who loved 4 speeds. Imagine that? So it's still an auto.
The car will have a black bucket seat interior with console when I get it completed . I have all the material, just need the time to finish it.
Hey Brad, I'm like you, I just dont get real excited for a few more weeks. Did get out the first morning and saw 3 does and 2 small bucks. Im just going to camp to drain the water and winterize everything. Looks like it could get pretty cold up there before I go back in the end of November.
Oh yes, and the side stripe. I talked about putting one on but can't decide between white or red. Maybe I'll go without. Guess I'll have to wait until spring and then decide. Anyone here have any suggestions or favorite color to go on black?

Nice rides. The red 69 reminds me of my Dad's red 300 Deluxe. We wewe just talking about that car last night over the remains of my 72.

Kevin: On the black 69's I think the red stripe is definately the way to go. For a 69 that is one of the top color combos IMHO. Actually I learned from a post several months ago that the red side stripe is only correct on black 69's with either red or black interior. Don't know if a white side stripe is correct for same interior colors or not. Then again not even sure if you give a hoot about being correct or not.
What area is your camp in. I've done a lot of hunting in Forest County over the years. Very nice up there. Bigger bucks in southwest PA. Seen some real bruts last couple of years. Time to cash in on those antler restrictions. I've let bucks pass that never would have thought about letting pass before the restrictions.

We are between Marienville and Cooks Forest. You're right about the bigger bucks here. But there are getting to be some nicer ones up north. I do most of my bowhunting here but head north for buck season for the tradition and friends. Spend two days there then back home for the rest of the season. Most times bow season is good to me though.

Very nice buck. I'd stick an arrow in him if given the chance. I know your camp area well. Good friend of mine has a camp on Duhring road which is about 5 miles north of Marienville. Runs from 66 back to Buzzard swamps area. Started going up there in mid 70's. Also myself and some family members belonged to a camp off 666 just up from Kelletville. Spent some time at Kelly Hotel. Hasn't everyone? I'm probably going to take a weeks vacation, first or second week of Nov and hunt every day ( weather permitting).
