Can any of you guys with a 1972 El Camino tell me what the typed info says on your driver door blue certification sticker ? I know the build date and the VIN. I don't know what the weights are suppose to be. Also, the very bottom on a chevelle says "PASSENGER CAR", what does it say for an El Camino ?
Thanks,
Rusty

Dasboard,
Did the data you posted come from the sticker on your vehicle, a 72 El Camino ?

Dan,
Thanks for the pics. I was beginning to think no one had or knew of one. Another question still exists. How much additional weight would be added for factory AC ?

Gross weight doesn't change because of a/c or other options. GAWR is the max allowed weight fully loaded with passengers and cargo, not curb weight.

Jerry,
That makes perfect sense to me. What I can't figure out is why I'm getting answers that vary by 500 lbs. Dan sent me a pic of his that showed GVWR as 4770 and "Dashboard" is saying GVWR is 5208 and another source says GVWR is 5220. I think you can see why I'm a little puzzled. Would still like some input on these weights.
Thanks,
Rusty

I'm not sure Rusty but I suspect the variation might be due to the tires that they were originally equipped with. Different sizes were available and some had higher load ratings than others.

Jerry,
I thought the 72 SS only came with the F60-15's and the 5 spoke wheels. I assume yours did't have a sticker either ? May be a BB/SB thing but I read somewhere that was only 160 lbs ? BTW, very nice El Camino you have. Looks like you pulled the same thing I did under the hood.

Maybe Dan also has a `72 SS but the pic in his profile is of a `67 SB which would have come with 14" wheels and probably 7.75's or F70's.

Jerry,
The pics that Dan sent also included one showing his 72 SS S/B 4spd non A/C El Camino with the 15x7 spoke wheels. Nice looking ride.
