I just completed by 2 inch drop using Superior Spindles. I think the front end may be a tad too low because the amount of space between the ground and the crowsmember is about 4 1/4 inches. I also cut a coil off each springs when I did a front end rebuild awhile back.
I may even get less clearance when I get my new wheels and tires.
Does anyone have their car at this height?
I'm thinking of replacing my springs if I start to collect road kill on the bottom of my Chevelle.

I wish I had a picture of mine. The front crossmember is about 3" off the ground. The drivers header is less than that. Other than speed bumps and high peaking driveways I don't have any problems. Love it!

Glenn, I have a 65 that has about 4-1/4 to 4-3/8" clearance at the crossmember. I put on almost 1300 miles this summer and never had any problems. I guess its all in how you plan to use it and the kind of roads you'll have to drive on!
Check out this thread:

It has alot of 65 pictures (mine included)
With those dropped spindles you will have to be very careful when measuring for wheel backspacing, I think your tie rod will be extremely close to the rim when you get enough backspacing to get the tire inside of the wheelwell.

Jeff,
Do you think 17X7 inch wheels with 4.5 bs will be OK?
BTW, your 65 is

That's why I opted for a Air Ride set-up in the front of my 64. I can adjust the stance. I can set it up for 4X4 mode for the great Michigan roads  Then slam it down as needed graemlins/beers.gif

Glenn, I would suggest posting a new thread over on the Wheels & Tires forum for that info. I have 16 x 7's with 4-1/4" of backspacing and I recall from looking at mine that if the tie rod was moved down much at all it would hit the rim. I know there a quite a few guys running 17's on 64 & 65's maybe they could tell you exactly how close theirs are with the stock spindles for comparison.
Good Luck!
Jeff
Thanks for the heads up. It does looks like I do have some clearance with Superior spindles. I think the problem may lie more with the b-body spindles because I had to shorten the tie rods length in order to get the front wheels straight. I'm thinking of calling Superior to see what the maximum backspacing I can use.
