I am in the process of putting my 65 chevelle back together and have noticed that the bearing at the end of the steering column is broke and the wire clip will not hold it in place. Is this available from anyone or is it a scrap yard part?

Original Parts Group (Originalpartsgroup.com) and Year One (Yearone.com) both sell replacement bearings. They are bronze instead of plastic.

Halemt,

It sounds like you need the bearing retainer... The retainer is plastic, fits in the end of the column and is often retained by a wire clip... I have not seen this part reproduced (not even in the latest OPGI catalog).

The bearing actually presses/fits snuggly into that plastic piece... OPGI sells a replacement "bushing" (not a bearing), but it should be fine in that application...

As for the plastic piece, I think you will have to find a used one somewhere...
