: SSM Lift bars Install
2k3Chevelle468 Mar 1st, 04, 3:43 PM I've received my liftbars from Jegs. The directions that came with them leave alot to be desired. Does anyone have pics and/or info detailing the installation process? I currently have the wheels and lower control arms off and the car supported on jack stands. I'm taking up the entire garage. Don't want to test my wifes patience any longer then necessary. ;)
Thanks
doggy69 Mar 1st, 04, 5:25 PM No sorry but not much to it just take your time. They go in place of lower control arms and they are to be attached to rear axle via a hole that you drill. They said to me angle it a few degrees down like 3 so that it would be 0 during acceleration. you want the angle to be as small as possible during acceleration b/c the straighter the angle the less parsitic loss(think about turning a universal) goodluck
2k3Chevelle468 Mar 1st, 04, 8:01 PM Thanks for the encouragement Mr. Doggy graemlins/thumbsup.gif
I just got them on. I'll work on the pinion angle in the next day or so.
Thanks again. graemlins/beers.gif

I kind of in the same boat (maybe I was out too late last night) but does anyone have a pictures of the back portion (rear axle) I guess where to drill has me concerned.
Anyone with pictures or a detail explanation - it would be greatly appreciated

hilljack Nov 19th, 05, 8:13 PM Make sure you have good hardware and NEW LOCK NUTS (OE style suspension bolts)! When I installed my SSM bars they came with bolts that were on the short side with standard nuts and split ring lock washers. I had to buy all new hardware. Talking with Dan earlier today, sounds like the Jegster bars come with longer bolts and lock nuts so this should not be a problem. I located my hardware so I can see the nuts easily looking underneath the car, torque paint is also a good idea for a quick visual.
There has been a couple TC'ers have a SSM bar come loose, spin off the road violently and destroy the rear quarter panel..............NO JOKE:eek:
Be safe guys and check your nuts periodically:D

Fred,
Thanks - I think I have it. At this point I need to measure the angle before drilling and tightening everything.
One question, I plan on getting the Edelbrock Adjustable Upper Control Arms, I would assume there is a little wiggle room for the setting the bottom bars. Is this correct?
thanks, Dan
