I am looking for detailed instruction (pictures or diagrams) on how to install tach, fuel, amp and temp guages to replace factory idiot lights. I have sourced all the guages and would like to begin the project.
My car is a true 70 ss, does that help?
Will I need a new wiring harness?
I've heard it is a common change-over. I just want to do it right the 1st time.
There seems to be alot of know how from the members on this site. I'm hoping soemone has done this recently and can pass along their wisdom.
Thanks very much,
guy p

Found a post of mine that spelled it out a couple years ago - see post #4 in this thread: http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148821&highlight=Gauge+conversion

I just did the same project on my 70SS this spring. To do it right you need to replace the dash wiring harness with a dash harness for factory gauges. Then the front lamp harness needs to be switched with one for factory gauges. That runs from the fuse box forward. I found an original dash harness on ebay and bought the front harness from Classic Muscle new for around $130.00.
