What is the proper method for attaching the chrome tailpipe extensions on a 69. Do you simply run screws thru the slots or should they be clamped someway? Also how far from the bumper should they protrude?

Clamped to a hanger the hangs from the top of the frame. I think the measurement is 1.5" beyond? Assembly manual shows the 1.5" but it's not clear if that is beyond the valance below the bumper or the bumper itself. I'll tell you 1.5" beyond the valance seems to be correct. 1.5" beyond the bumper sticks out too much in my opinion, I tried both.

Anyone have pics? Sorry but I want to get them right. Not really something I would want to redo.

Pause it 0:47 to get an idea. 69 and 70 should be the same.

They are clamped on using tail pipe hanger.
The saddle part of the clamp goes on top of the extention
so you won't see the clamp hanging down.

My repro extensions wouldn't clamp down tight enough on the tailpipes to keep them from slipping off. I fixed that by using a short 1/4" stainless bolt on the bottom of each. Drilled the extension and TP and tapped the TP (use very light torque and lock washer).

Sounds like it would work and also add some extra insurance against losing them.
