: Wheel hop - Zero pinion angle - use adj upper arms or lower arms w/ stops?

Hey, I have a '68 Chevelle with a 383, 700R4, 3.42 gears w/ powertrax locker, monroe gas shocks, stock upper and lower control arms w/ new poly bushings and the lower arms have been boxed. I have massive wheel hop problems with street tires (295 50 15) and ET Streets. The hop not only occurs at sudden suspension loading, like full throttle from a dead stop, but also as soon as the tires begin to spin when doing a still burnout.

I checked the pinion angle and is at zero. My question is, should I use adjustable upper arms to dial in about 3 deg neg pinion angle or use the lower bars (Lakewood, Comp Engineering, etc) that keep the housing from rotating?

The goal is the same which is to keep a zero angle under load but the methods probably have pros and cons. Any info would be appreciated on recommendation and experience controling wheel hop.

Thanks-

In your case the adjustable upper are probably the way to go. You could install SSM lift bars and set the angle with them (it's a one shot deal). You need about 4º down.

Ooops! My pinion angle is actually +3, not zero. Originally I put the gauge on the bottom of the yoke as oppposed to the face. My driveshaft is + 2.5 and the yoke is -.5 .

So, can someone recommend some adjustable uppers? Also, does anyone know the length of the upper arms from center of the bushing to the other center?

I've got METCO adjustable uppers, they are shipped to you set at stock length. They are pricey, almost 300.00 for the pair. The Edelbrocks look nice,BMR makes some,Jegs has some that are single adjustable, meaning that you have to take one end down to adjust. The METCO uppers are double adjustable.

I have looked at some aftermarket amrs and most of the adjustable uppers have solid ends that connect at the frame. I am concerned that this may damage the frame. I will try to find some with poly bushings.
