First off i have a 68 chevelle malibu with a small block 350. I will be running a set of either 275/60/16 or 295/60/16 BFGoodrich drag radials. And what im hoping for is to get the best launch possible. So my question is what coil spring and shock set up i should go with for the best launch? With this set up i still want the 'velle to be easily driven on the street/

I haven't had the pleasure of driving my ride yet to have proven results, but the research here and in mag's led me to my setup. Hotchkis 2" drop springs, Edlebrock IAS shocks with an air bag set 4-10psi in the passenger side coil for hard launches. Adjustable upper control arms and I boxed the lower control arms. While I had them out I replaced all the rubber with polygraphite bushings.

Thanks for the reply Juan. Sounds like a really nice setup you have there. I was thinkings of something a bit cheaper(im 19, and of course with not much money). But does the dropped front with tougher passenger rear spring allow for better launchces. I ve heard some good stuff about moog and was looking for some input there so chime in anybody.

Haven't tried them yet but a friend of mine pointed out that edelbrock has a set of double adjustable upper control arms that look pretty slick. Might wanna give them a whirl.

I run stock uppers with new poly bushings, SSM Lift bars, Stock springs, & a rear sway bar, with Edelbrock IAS Shocks. The car runs and handles very nice. Biggest handling improvement i noticed was adding a bigger 1 1/4" Front sway bar & a Quick ratio box.
Good luck. Mine was FAIRLY cheap
I think the SSM Bars were $120, Poly bushings were about $60, Edelbrock shocks were pricey $280 for all 4, & The sway bar was 80.

I'm no expert, but I've heard that Moroso's Trick springs work well at the track, so that you don't need an airbag. Then use some QA1 adjustable shocks(if you've got the money) or edelbrock's IAS adjustable shocks. Pair that with adjustable upper control arms and boxed lowers. Then you will have equal traction on launches and can set it to street or strip. Let me know how you do because I'm running a similar setup and am looking to upgrade in the near future.

I ended up going with a set of hotckins 1 inch lowered springs all around. And i went with some adjustable shocks. The front shocks i can adjust from 90/10, 80/20, or 70/30. And in the rear i can adjust from 70/30, 60/40, or 50/50. i am going to try 90/10 up front with 50/50 in back. ill lwt you know how it goes in about a week im guessing. Right now im running on one leg with 3.08 gears. So ill be upgrading to a 4.10 eaton posi unit soon graemlins/thumbsup.gif (hopefully).

This is what I run Hotrods to Hell (http://www.hotrodstohell.net/truckarm/truckarm_index.htm) and I don't think that anything else compares for a street/strip car. It hookes up really good at the drags and is hands down the best handling setup that I have ever come across.
