My 1970 needs a sway bar and there are several sizes available, which way should I go and why? I have 1 1/4 in front.
Thanks

I'm running a 1 1/4" front sway bar with a 7/8" stock GM rear sway bar. I am very happy with it, but I have not pushed it to the handling limits so I can not comment on the over/understeer characteristics of this set up. I'm also running 166lbs/in rear coils.

I have the same size sway bars as Bryan and I am also happy with mine but I am not making a G-machine out of mine or trying to get the absolute best possible handling either. So I think a 7/8" or a 1" would be fine.

I'm running the 1¼" front and stock GM rear, and I've noticed that when I push it to my limit around a curve, the rear end feels like it wants to come around on me.

But I think spring rates have a big effect on it too. I'm running stock springs all around. I think a 1-1/8" front would balance better for my car, but that's just speculation, not experience.

I'm very happy with it as it is.

As CJ said spring rate will have an effect to a point, but our cars arn't blessed with alot of sway bar choices. I run 1 1/4" front and 7/8" or 1" rears on all the cars I have had with great results.
