What are the combonations that are reccomended? From what I have read, to lower your front end 2", one of these things has to happen:

1. get drop spindles (stock springs)
2. get lowered springs (stock spindles)
3. get both (and NEVER go over a pothole again)

Am I correct? The whole having to change out the A-Arm thing bor "big" brakes makes sense I think, but then, how the hell does Wilwood do it? Does anyone have a combo that Lowers the front end 2", Has the capacity for 12" disc brakes, and diddn't change the A-Arms?

My 68' has Drums (dumbs) up front and now I'm getting worried that they won't be able to handle my new Mill. Can anyone please explain this to me?

You can have your cake and eat it too. Well using drop spindles (at least the ones I've seen) you won't be able to have anything except inadaquate 78 - 87 G-body brakes and they suck the big wienie when it comes to stopping. Wilwood is suppling a brake bracket to bolt big 12" brakes to the stock spindles, I don't like the Wilwood kit because they used to use a single seal caliper which would allow moisture into the hydralic system. Baer brakes has a 12" big brake set up using PBR calipers which are double seal better for the street, this is the best set up of all but it costs. The tall spindle will screw up the steering geometry, check past threads for my opinion on this. Use drop springs to lower the car 2" from stock height is possible, but most front spring in a car are sacked out and are already a little lower than stock. I personally use stock 11" brakes with Eibach spring kit and have had very good luck with this set up, ride height is perfect in the front, not so low that I can't get over pebbles and not so high to cause nose bleeds.

Superior Spindles www.superiorspindles.com (http://www.superiorspindles.com) lists a 2 inch dropped spindle that uses 12 inch rotors. The model number is 6472DS12. I have sent them e-mail twice asking for information about the length and location of the steering arm on these spindles and haven't received a reply yet. I have also asked about the source of the rotors and calipers used on these spindles. Does anyone else know anything about these spindles? These are supposed to be a short spindle replacement made specifically for 64 to 72 A-bodies.

I checked out a 2 inch dropped 'Classic Drop' spindle last weekend. This is the spindle that uses the G-body brakes (probably the one that Q-Ship was referring to). The steering arm on this spindle is the same height as the stock arm but the length of the arm is 6.5, the same as the F-body and B-body spindles. So this spindle will have the same ackerman and turning radius problems as the tall spindles.
