I would like to replace my front drum brakes with disc brakes. I am on a budget and would like to know if there are any vehicles from which I can take the discs from and "transplant" onto my chevelle. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Also, I went to the Super Chevy show in Atlanta yesterday and although I had a great time I noticed that there were very few Chevelles in attendance-bummer. :(

Greg,

The cheapest way to go is with 68 to 72 A body disc brakes especially if you can find a donor car. You use your existing A Frames and use the donor spindles, caliper bracket, dust cover etc.

The best way to go is to find a 68-72 donor car, but they are getting very hard to find. I just complete the conversion using 75 Pont Ventura with non power disc brakes. The Ventura had 10 inch rotors which was good for me because I wanted to keep my rallye wheels. The only mod I had to make was to have the lower ball joint and the tie rod end reamed out on the Venture spindles to fit my 67 ball joint/tie rod. There are ball joints and tie rod ends to make the conversion, but for me I liked this route. As anyone will tell you make sure you get all the parts from the donor car, right down to the brake line support brackets. Good luck
