Was at a carshow this last weekend and a guy had some very attractive 3-point seat belts in his car. I asked where he got them and he said AutoLoc. I thought they only did power window, locks, and electrical stuff. I was impressed and the price is right too. Check em out!

Yeah, good prices, but they only offer the 2 different buckle choices... The Chrome one looks pretty good for a 64/65 Chevelle (IMO)

I think the 3-pt belts only come with the colored buckle, which looks more modern than classic... Looks like $60 for each seat...

They have the "vintage" style Chrome lap belts for Chevelles, $27,
"Original" style chrome lift lap belts for $50
3-point retractable shoulder belts with brushed metal push button latch for about $85 each seat ($170 for the pair), specifically for Chevelles, although the brackets might be somewhat generic. They also have less expensive buckles.

As a bonus (for me), they offer matching rear retractable belts (generic fit but matching buckles) or also matching rear lap belts... Lots of colors (pretty much the same as most companies)...

Morris Classic Concepts have 'GM" lables in the buckles, and look very good installed... But more expensive at about $150 for each seat ($140 through Summit?)... No rear retractible, and no mention of rear laps, but IIRC there are numerous colors available...

We have 7 different styles of seatbelt in 21 different colors! I personally like the airplane buckles and have them in my O/T hot rod. Cruise over to www.thehoffmangroup.com and see the variety of items we sell. We have 7 different lines of products, anywhere from front end kits to smoke screen kits!

By pure coincidence, I called Morris yesterday to see if they are planning any Christmas Holiday sales. I was told no, but they would deduct $20.00 off the purchase price for TC members. Morris has always received rave reviews here on TC.

The price for 3 point belts for my El Camino with discount would run $330.00 for the pair if I wanted the GM Mark of Excellence buckles plus approximately $15.00 for shipping. That comes to over $170.00 per seat.

That compares to $60.00/seat (plus shipping) For the AutoLoc belts. However, as Tony aka 1966 L78 points out, while the price from AutoLoc has Morris beaten hands down, the buckle selection falls short by comparison.

After reviewing AutoLoc's web sight, I called them this morning and asked if their belts were manufacturer make and model specific, like Morris' belts. I was told that one size fits all no matter what brand and what model you drive. Maybe that's why they can sell so cheap. I asked about compatibility of mounting points and was told "no problem, they'll bolt right up without any modifications". While they may be right, I have a hard time accepting that one single style of belt will install and work well in every brand and model ever made. (The Morris belts would be made specifically for the requirements of my El Camino.)

I'm sure that there are or will be guys who jump on the AutoLoc belts, based on their great pricing alone. Anyone out there who have their three point belts and care to share your experience?

I have seen Morris belts, and they look nice, but Andover offers "Chevelle" specific sets for half the price of Morris... The retractor housing for Andover is kind of ugly looking compared to Morris(IMO), but the upper belt "extension" and "female" buckle look to be the same... And the retractor is hidden unless the door is open...

I think Morris's color palette is limited ( 5 or 6 colors?), while Andover has 21 or 22 colors.

Andover does NOT have the GM buckles, but they have the brushed metal "starburst" button buckles that look similar in style...

And Andover also carries matching rear shoulder belts (generic application, but IMO, better than just lap belts)

I am planning on Andover so I can get front and rear matching for my interior. I am still awaiting color samples before I order, but hopefully I'll do that in the next month or so...

Tony,

Can you post pictures of your Andover belts, once they are installed. I would be most interested in a good look at both the buckles and the retractors.

Thanks

I ended up going right to their store in Portland to see them and ended up buying. I'm doing some custom things to my car so I wasn't concerned with originality but found them comparable to modern day seat belts. The airplane buckles seemed to be of good quality, although I went with the other because it went along with the look I was going for. The color selection was very impressive, especially if you are trying to match a custom color. I think the reason they are able to fit most any application is because the inertia reel holds enough webbing to fit most cars. The mounting of the inertia reel seemed to be less obtrusive than other aftermarket brands I've seen, which is primarily why I bought this brand. Of course the stock mounting is stiill the most attractive. I have not seen the Morris brand in person but I assume they are very nice and most like stock. I'm thinking it is like the billet hood hinges, you can have anything you want, how much can you and do you want to spend.

I noticed a lot of the 3 point belts do not have the mounting plate for the upper attaching point like on a Chevelle with the two bolts, You either need to make something or count on 1 - 5/16" bolt to hold it in place durring an accident.

We have about any color seat belt you would want, About 20 colors.
Our seat belts differ from others because of the quality of our stainless steel attaching brackets also car and year specific. No assembly required just bolt in. We use grade 8 bolts and use all of the factory attaching points as mentioned earlier, as GM tested them with two bolts in the top mount . Only one 5/16 bolt to hold you in the car, I don't like that idea.It is cheaper to sell a seat bellt with a handful of miscellanous parts and say oh it will fit. A square peg will fit in a round hole too. Billy
