Posted this in the interior section but did not get a response. Painted some interior pieces that have a texture or grain in it, and it just came out to shiney. I tried to knock down the sheen with #oooo steel wool, which worked on the high spots, but not down in the grain. Anything I can put on it that won't remove the paint? I tried flat clear, but the gloss came right thru it.

Any paint supplier can mix interior paint on their system. Get a code, pick a brand and have it mixed. Done deal.

It's the old saying, "you can have anything you want, how much do you wanna spend". I have a wanna get it done right wish, on a spray can budget. I just thought I have heard of something or some way I could knock down the sheen. I'm happy with the quality of paint and the color match, just wish it wasn't so shiney.

Jeff,
I got some torch red paint, enamel, mixed at the local paint vendor and he put it in an aerosol can.
15 bucks I think it was.

Correct interior match is usually a very low gloss which can be obtained by using basecoat/clearcoat without the clear. To obtain a very slight gloss add 10-15% hardner to the base. I have a bright blue interior and wanted to do my kick panels...used this trick and came out beautiful. You can use a cheap touch up gun if you want, spray several coats (allowing for drying between). Throw away any left over paint once you've added hardner to it.
