Can anyone be of assistance and let me know if 18's will fit up front on a '66 el camino with a 2"drop? also what is the exact size tire and wheel with offset I sould be purchasing. I am looking at coys and would like to get some ordered this week.

thanks in advance.

Should be no problem but I will tell you I've run that combo on my '70 and I personally think the 20's make the 18's look too small in front...a 19/20 combo would look much better IMHO but 19" tires are more expensive than 18's for sure.

This should be a pretty safe combo for you,I'm not sure Coy's offers custom backspacing though and that may end up being a problem:

Fronts:
18x9 (5.5" b/s) 275/35

Rears:
20x10 (5.75" b/s) 295/35 or 305/35 (drag radial)

so you don't think the 19's would rub up front with the 2"drop? I want something to fill up the wheel well but no rubbing problems.

thanks

That's why you measure and measure again. Or, deal with a vendor that knows our platform and will get your fitment spot on without all the work. Contact Jon @ DriverzInc if you are unwilling (or unsure of your ability) to do the measuring yourself.

Also, be sure you have your final brake package... IF you plan on changing to disc (or just larger discs) in the future, some setups will alter the track width compared with stock (well, I guess they'll pretty much all alter the track width to varying degrees)... This could cause rubbing later, while it fits now...

If you want the biggest that will fit, it'll be tight and so you need to measure your car...

SO,SO true...these cars are all different.
My '69 Z/28 will swollow up an 18x10 rear with a 305/35 drag radial...while other guys struggle to fit 9.5's and 275's...go figure?

I'd certainly recommend Jon Henson too @ www.driverzinc.com he has set up most all my cars, including my DD's...good friend to know.;)

I've run an 18x8 and 20x10 combo before on a 68 El Camino. That was around 1996-97 and 19" wheels & tires were pretty much unheard of. However,if you can afford the extra cost,I would go with John's recommendation of the 19/20 combo. However, the Coys don't offer that option.
